Unitronic Carbon Fiber Intake System with Air Duct for MK8 GTI 2.0TSI EVO4
Unitronic® is proud to release its Carbon Fiber Intake System for the MK8 GTI® in addition to the recently released Intercooler Upgrade for the MK8 GTI® and Golf R® equipped with the 2.0TSI® EA888 EVO4 engines. These hardware upgrades have now been re-engineered to fit the latest models from VW®, offering the same level of performance and exceptional fitment you've come to expect from Unitronic.
At Unitronic, development begins with setting the objectives for performance, efficiency, aesthetics and quality. Utilizing our very own development MK8 GTI, Unitronic Engineers quickly started 3D scanning the new EA888 EVO4 engine bay which helps them interact with 3D models in order to identify fitment constraints, possible new mounting locations and other component locations to ensure the final product fits perfectly within the “envelope”.
In the case of the MK8 GTI, the team quickly determined that special attention was needed at the front end of the vehicle as the existing Unitronic Air Duct did not perfectly align with the grill and there was also contact with one of the lower OEM hoses as well. As a result, Unitronic Engineers took this opportunity to revise the existing design in order to provide perfect fitment for the MK8 where scalloping was introduced to clear the lower hose, internal flow was optimized and the dual inlets were repositioned as well. Provisions were also made to support the OEM coolant line securely with clips and the silicone turbo inlet hose was also redesigned in order to mate perfectly with the new turbos on the EA888 EVO4 engines. Once all product updates had been made to assure perfect fitment, the Unitronic Carbon Fiber Intake System successfully managed to optimize airflow, improve throttle response and enhance turbo induction sounds while providing seamless integration and an aggressive carbon fiber presence in the engine compartment of the MK8 GTI.
As with all Unitronic products, this Carbon Fiber Intake System offers superior fit and finish with a direct bolt-on fitment, retaining the factory mounting locations and simplifying the installation process using our very own mounting grommets.
